Shana Godfred-Cato, DO

Bio: Dr. Shana Godfred-Cato completed her medical degree at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and her residency at Baylor Scott & White in Temple, TX. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the University of Utah.

Dr. Godfred-Cato’s interests include emerging threats and disaster preparedness for children and families. She is currently working with the Pediatric Pandemic Network to improve pediatric disaster preparedness and response in the region. Dr. Godfred-Cato serves on the executive committee for the American Academy of Pediatrics Council on Children and Disasters. She has worked for the CDC’s National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities, focusing on emerging threats that affect mothers and infants. She has served on CDC’s Zika, e-cigarette or vaping product use-associated lung injury, COVID-19, and Monkeypox responses. She also serves in the Utah Air National Guard; through her military service, she is working on traumatic brain injury research. During her free time, she enjoys running, biking, skiing, and spending time with her family and labradoodle.
